On September 21, the Edgemont school community gathered in the multi-purpose room to celebrate International Day of Peace. Ms. Henry began the celebration by sharing student responses to questions about peace that had been posted around the school and leading the school in one minute of dance to the song "Forever," by Chris Brown. Ms. Henry said, "Dance helps us bring deep understanding and compassion to each other. Dancing as their own natural selves allows people to celebrate a natural desire to be themselves".
Following the dance, kindergarten students led the school community in a "Mindful Minute" and then sang "Light a Candle for Peace" accompanied by Mr. Mellman on the keyboard. To finish out the celebration, 5th grade students, carrying Edgemont's peace dove, led the all school peace parade around the front of the school.
