October was a busy month at Edgemont School!
October 7-11 was the Week of Respect at Edgemont Montessori School! Students celebrated, discussed and explored different ways to show respect and be respectful towards one another. The “themed” days were also quite fun!
During our first Montessori Moment of the school year, Kindergarten and 3rd grade students worked together as Book Buddies. Students worked together collaboratively in order to read books, discuss characters, and write up a review for the book! The Edgemont SATp is working closely with the Edgemont staff to help plan monthly, cross-curricular, cross-grade level, Montessori-based activities throughout the year.
A beloved, autumn tradition, Harvest Day at Edgemont Montessori School was amazing! Students participated in interactive, educational activities such as gardening, pumpkin decorating, square dancing, and scarecrow building. As always, a huge thank you to our PTA and parent volunteers for making this event so successful!
Our students celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a land acknowledgement and drum circle! All students participated in a lively, hands-on drum circle and engaged in a discussion about the significance of Indigenous Peoples' Day.
Another tradition at Edgemont, the Halloween Mash was a spooky, fun success! Edgemont students put on their costumes and enjoyed a day full of games, music, dancing and of course some delicious treats!
After reading Alice in Wonderland, Ms. O'Connor's class had a Madhatter's tea party, complete with tarts, tea and the queen of hearts . Students and parents dressed as characters from the book and used clues to solve riddles, to move their time machine from 1865 back to the present.
